Geography of TalaiThis town is located about 45 Km away from Bilaspur and is surrounded by Bijhri Tehsil towards South , Hamirpur Tehsil towards west , Dharmpur Tehsil towards North, Bamson Tehsil towards North. It is located at a longitude of 31 degree 19 minutes North and latitude of 76 degree 5 minutes East. The town is situated at an altitude of 1900 feet above mean sea level. It is well connected to important town cities like Bilaspur, Ghumarwin, Una and Hamirpur. The Sariyali Khad and Dug Khad are flowing through this town. The local language of people here is Hindi. This place remains cool during summers and is extremely cold and snow covered during winters. Temperatures sometimes even drops below freezing point. However, Talai looks extremely impressive and divine almost all through the year with winters offering some spectacular mind boggling views of snow capped peaks. It is better to avoid visiting Talai during Monsoon, as there are many landslides occuring in these hilly areas. As per 2011 census, the total population of Talai in Himachal Pradesh is 2,372 with 53% being males and 47% being females. The average literacy rate of this town is 71% which is much higher than the national average of 59.5%.

Baba Balak Nath is a Punjabi Hindu deity worshiped in the northern Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. It is locaed about 4kms away from Talai in Deotsidh Dhar Range in Shivalik Hills with the snow capped Dhaula Dhar Range as a back drop. Shri baba balaknath is a incarnation of Lord Shiva and he is is worshiped for the well being of mankind. The devotees are given sweet Indian Flour Bread, "Rota" at the altar of Babaji as prasad. Babaji is also worshiped with Goats , however they are not sacrificed but instead are fed and taken care of. Women are not allowed to enter the cave. They can do darshan from a raised platform outside the cave. The government of Himahchal Pradesh has taken over the administration and management of this temple. Culture of TalaiPeople of Talai are extremely warm and nice. They usually speak Hindi and are very down to earth. All the festivals are celebrated here with great zeal and fervor. Especially the Navratras when the entire town is immersed in celebrations. There is popular fair organized in the town known as Baba Balak Nath fair. This fair is an eminent religious festival of the state. It is celebrated during March and April. It lasts for about month from 14th March to 13th April.
